About
If you’re looking for a fun night out, make sure to check out our events calendar for upcoming trivia, workshops, markets, and more. All are welcome, including families with kids, but entrance is restricted to those 21+ after 8pm daily.
Our South Boston taproom is open daily, offering a rotating selection of 20 Castle Island beers, hard seltzers, wine, and plenty of N/A options. If you’re hungry, you’ve gotta try the tasty eats from Bardo’s, our in-house pizza partners-in-crust. In a hurry? Pre-order your pizza and beer-to-go and we’ll have it ready for you at the door.
Want to bring your (well-behaved) pup? Dogs (on leashes) are welcome on our outdoor patio as long as they are up-to-date on all vaccines and required licenses. Dogs may not sit on tables or chairs and may not eat off of plates. We suggest bringing your own dog bowl for water. Due to health department regulations, we, unfortunately, cannot allow dogs inside, however, service animals are always welcome.
The South Boston Story
Every now and then, life throws you an opportunity you just can’t pass up.
That’s what happened when we were given a chance to open our newest location in South Boston. With a name like Castle Island you’d think we originally started in South Boston – or Southie, to the locals – but that’s not how this story goes.
No, for us the chance to add a new outpost in Southie came years later in 2019 when we got a call from the new owner of the former Cole Hersee building. Cole Hersee, formed nearly 100 years before we got that call, made electrical components for a variety of industries back when things were actually made in Southie. And here’s the fun (and true) part: Cole Hersee was started by our Founder’s Great Grandfather, whose picture now hangs in our brewery as a reminder of the era when Boston earned its world-famous grit.
Working with our designers, architects, and engineers, we created a space that invokes this building’s manufacturing roots while leaning into a vibrant, modern aesthetic to reflect where Southie’s been and where it’s going. We took the family ties one step deeper, partnering with our Founder’s childhood friend to bring the Bardo’s brand to life and keep our hungry, beer-drinking community fed with some of the best South Shore bar pizza this side of anywhere. And we dipped into the very community we now call home to hire an all-star hospitality team that is raising the bar for what a brewery experience should be.
Whether you’re looking for a fresh pint, a hot pizza, a memorable night out, or a unique space to hold your next private event, our Southie location has you covered.
